The possibilities are endless at Camp Maha, located just minutes from Omaha, Nebraska.

Camp Maha is 52 acres of scenic beauty overlooking the Platte River, just south of Papillion, Nebraska. Maha is ideal for that first outdoor experience and is available year-round for day tours, retreats, camping, environmental-science workshops, trainings and meetings.

Maha, which means "above all others on the river," was leased by the Omaha Girl Scouts from 1933 to 1945. A camp fund campaign in 1945 raised money for development and purchase of the site. In 1992, a $1 million capital expansion added a swimming pool, environmental-education center and maintenance building.

Camp Maha is accredited by the American Camping Association. Contact the council office at 402.558.8189 or council@gpgirlscouts.org for more information.

Highlights of Camp Maha

Adventure Experience
The Girl Scout Adventure Experience is a series of initiative games and low elements which, together, work to build confidence, teamwork skills, problem-solving skills, trust, coordination and appreciation of the natural world. Initiative games prepare the group to think and work together to overcome simple challenges before they move on to low elements. Low elements are built up to six feet high and provide a higher level of problem solving, trust and team-building challenges. Adventure programs may be scheduled during spring, summer and fall.

Archery
Archery equipment is available at Maha for ages 10 and older. One adult must be present who is archery-trained.

Environmental Education Workshops
Environmental Education Workshops are offered throughout the year. Enjoy two hours of hands-on activities that focus on the outdoors for all age levels.

Self-Guided Hike
Self-guided hike bags are available for checkout. Each bag contains a map, magnifying glasses, scavenger hunts and other activities. Turn an ordinary hike into a learning experience!

Swimming
Cool off in our Olympic-size swimming pool. The pool is available between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Certified lifeguards are required when the pool is in use. Swimming is not allowed in the Platte River.
